Haaaa!!!! Tracy, that’s AWESOME, sis! I love it. Maybe I’ll start another site and call it BigHeartBeautiful. You are so kind to say this. I’m beaming right now and love the idea of expanding (ha!) it to include the heart. It so IS all about the heart. A body is really relevant to the entire discussion, but you’re right, it’s the heart and soul driving this amazing journey by way of our lovely bodies. Thank you so much for commenting, honey. Love your thoughts. XOXO

Hi Liz! I stumbled upon your blog from Rx/Black Box and was impressed with your candor and courage. I have struggled with my weight my entire life, some periods of time worse than others. I feel my fat is my own personal security blanket deeply rooted from my own molestation, rapes, and sexual harassment and assault through the years. I am fattest after a trauma and thinner when I have strong support systems and my self-esteem is high. What are your thoughts? Also, have you explored shame and its effects through your journey?

      Hi, Amy!

Thank you so much for coming over and taking a look around. So glad to have you here! Your words about your fat being your security blanket are so apt and completely how I feel, too. I know that this weight would not be here if I did not need it. I must need it. It took me forever to simply accept that and trust in the wisdom of my body.

I’m so sorry that your experience included some of the same traumatic and horrifying stuff that mine did. I can tell you that you are a sister-of-the-soul. No one understands like someone who has been through the same stuff. And, yes, I have explored shame in the past, in therapy. It took me quite a while to understand that the shame I felt over what happened was not because I was bad but it was my abusers’ faults. I had multiple perpetrators so that took a while to unwind and cleanse. Anyway, now, I tend to re-route my thinking on all of that stuff. I generally choose to by-pass what happened in favor of what is going on right now in the moment. But, I can tell you that I had huge breakthroughs with shame when I did bio-energetics (aka the quadritity process). The practice of hitting a tennis racket on a pillow, screaming anything that came into my head, and emptying my body of the cellular memories was so life-changing and wonderful, though painful at the time. Shame came up alot in my process and of course, rage. Clearing all of that was ecstatically life-affirming. LOL! How’s that for a tongue twister?!

What has your experience with clearing and releasing shame been like? Love you, sis. Come on by any ol’ time you want. I look forward to getting to know you and your journey. Big, warm hugs to you!
